Reception Table Place Setting

Credit: Touchstone Pictures
One of my favorite scenes in Pretty Woman is when Vivian tries to open the oyster at the formal dinner and it goes flying across the room nearly taking off the waiter’s face. While this gets a little chuckle out me, I wouldn’t want food flying around at one of my wedding receptions. A full, formal place setting can be overwhelming and cause your guests to be just as nervous as Vivian. What is the solution, you ask? Think Simple: only place the needed utensils for the food you are serving.
There are endless décor options when designing the guest tables at your reception. Key components include the linen, centerpiece, and place setting. However, what degree of formality should you set the tables for your specific type of reception? Check out the different reception types below to assist you in setting your tables.

The illustration above is a great resource to have when selecting your place setting for your reception. Make sure to add some personal flare to the tables to incorporate your theme or colors of the wedding. 1. Britney,

In the movie Pretty Woman, Vivian was not trying to open an oyster. She was trying to extract an escargot from its shell when it slipped away from her.
